  • I. Audible Signals as specified in the PLS Lifeguard Intercommunications Handbook
    • Code and decode, interpret and acknowledge whistle signals
  • II. Visual Signals as per PLS Lifeguard Intercommunications Handbook
    • Execute, interpret and acknowledge hand signal instructions
  • III. Radio equipment operation (hand-held and mobile)
    • Identify basic parts of radio equipment according to manufacturer’s specification.
    • Observe care of radio equipment in accordance with manufacturers specification.
    • Establish channel band and identify call signs of radio stations in the network
    • Use procedural words (prowords) in radio communication as per PLS Lifeguard Intercommunications Handbook
    • Conduct regularly radio checks for readability and fill out radio logbook clearly.
  • IV. Communicate emergency calls
    • Communicate “Rescue, Rescue, Rescue” as an Emergency Call as per PLS Lifeguard Intercommunications Handbook.
    • Communicate Emergency information using the 4Ps method as per PLS Lifeguard Intercommunications Handbook.
    • Manage radio interruptions as per PLS Lifeguard Intercommunications Handbook.
  • V. Maintain radio equipment
    • Perform routine and emergency radio maintenance of transceivers as per manufacturers specification.
    • Perform charging of battery packs as per specification by radio brand manufacturer
