The recent publication of the first Drowning and Aquatic Injuries Dictionary, dubbed as “Resuscitation Plus, ” is a major step towards improving drowning prevention research and evidence based public health policies. This document is the result of a decade long effort led by the International Drowning Researchers’ Alliance members.

As a Live online document, IDRA’s “Resuscitation Plus” Dictionary will ensure that everyone speaks the same language by using standardized terminology and definitions. Ultimately, it will allow a better understanding of Drowning as a public health issue.

Philippine Life Saving has welcomed the creation and generous online release of “Resuscitation Plus”. Along with the publication, are 25 open access resuscitation research articles highly recommended for use and add-ons to library compilations in Drowning Prevention Research.

We would like to thank the International Drowning Research Alliance (IDRA) and its pool of well hearted authors for sharing research outcomes at online platform. This free access document would contribute applicable information in the formulation of specific National Drowning Prevention Plans worldwide including the Philippines.

The Philippine Life Saving Society encourages various stakeholders at Philippine Drowning Prevention Council (PDPC), lifesaving practitioners elsewhere, the school sector, tourism industry, national agencies, local government units and the Filipino constituency to fully use the dictionary for the sake of Drowning Prevention.
