It kills more than tuberculosis, malaria and dengue in the Philippines. 300,000 Children drown every year in Asia. 1.5 Million will drown if no initiatives are done in 5 years. DROWNING IS EVIDENT IN NEGROS

June 24, 2017 (San Juan 3 drown in Negros : Rayden Sinfuego, 4 , in Tapi, Kabankalan and floating in a well; Billy Calumba, 61, drowned while he was trying to swim towards the shore in Matu-og, Tayasan; and Ramyl Carvajal while having excursion with friends in Bulanon, Sagay City.

May 30, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. In Miranda, Hinigaran, Jonathan Calsado, 57 drowned while swimming During a Family Outing.

May 10, 2017 at 12 noon TWO Teens drowned in Victorias, Danica Ilustre, 16 and Kent Hechanova, 13 while Swimming at Malogo River. They were carried by strong current.

March 6, 2017 In Murcia, Ernel Herida, 24 and Jobert Francisco, 15 drowned in Caliban River while in a party. They went swimming and swept by strong current.

March 1, 2017 TWO young boys in separate incidents : 1) Edwin Aligato Jr., 4 drowned in the pool of a beach resort in old Sagay, 1:00 pm and 2).11 Year Old, Grade 5 Pupil drowned in a beach n Villadolid at 3:00 pm (Name withheld )

October 16, 2016 TWO drowned near Obong Cave, Hinoba-an . Mark Bryan Santesteban, 21 and Jerson Castro, 24.

September 14, 2016 TWO separate drowning incidents: 1) A 17 year old student drowned at Tupas Beach, Hinoba-an at 6:00 am. 2) Irene Nobleza, 11 drowned while crossing Camao River, Calatrava.

August 9, 2016 An American national, John Sterling Burdick, 48 drowned in a beach resort while celebrating his birthday in Pook, Hinoba-an. He went swimming and was swept by strong current.

March 27, 2016 Easter FIVE drowned in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental Beach Easter Sunday Outing. All were carried away by strong current at sea at 3:00 pm.

January 3, 2015, 11 pm FOUR Teens drowned in Aurino Beach, Cauayan while swimming and swept away by strong current: 1) Stephanie Guimong, 15, 2) April Rose, 13, 3) Reynaldo Silvera and 4) Jeselle Diaz

WHAT MAKES IT MORE TRAGIC IS THE FACT THAT

DROWNING IS PREVENTABLE !

In the Philippines, an alarming number of water-related deaths brought to convene The Philippine Drowning Prevention Council (PDPC) in 2011 We were able to formulate and release The Philippine Drowning Prevention Plan 2016-20 in collaboration with the government and various stakeholders particularly the 24 PLS Lifesaving Centres nationwide.

Note: Philippine Drowning Prevention Plan 2016-2020 adhered some recommendations from PDP 2010 -15.

The PDPC is committed for the enhancement of various Drowning Prevention Initiatives in the Philippines particularly the formulation of the Philippine Drowning Prevention Plan which will serve as a strong directional per five-year manual, ensure bilateral support and oversee the successful implementation of the recommendations therein. TOWARDS “A DROWN-FREE PHILIPPINES”

The Philippine Drowning Prevention Plan 2016 -20 is SIMPLY about Saving Lives — a humanitarian undertaking devoted for the people and community in the Philippines.
